I just wish I didn’t feel so lost without her, so unsure of the path I thought I had carved for myself, and so outclassed by the powerful Adepts constantly by my side these days. I’m not even sure if they’re with me for my own protection or because my shiny new powers are rare and valuable. Assuming I ever figure out who or what I am, and how my magic actually works.
Even chocolate can’t save the day every time … just most of the time. At least I’ve got that going for me.

I hadn’t set foot in the human world for more than a few hours in over three and a half months. Sure, I was stronger and faster than I’d ever been before, and I had a shiny new sword, but I was seriously chocolate deprived. I don’t recommend quitting cold turkey. And the new sword was a problem — to my mind, anyway. It represented all the expectations of a powerful father and a new otherworldly life. A life that wasn’t the one I’d worked so hard to build. It also represented the responsibility I had to bring my foster sister Sienna to … what? Justice? I didn’t know if that was even possible. What I did know was that Sienna wouldn’t stop, and that I couldn’t just leave everything up to fate and destiny … or maybe I was. Maybe I was doing exactly what I was supposed to be doing. If you believed in that sort of thing.
I just hoped that before the chaos and mayhem renewed, I’d manage to get my hands on some chocolate. It didn’t even have to be single-origin Madagascar. I was utterly prepared to lower my standards.

Wow! I'm speechless! This series is just fantastic, and made me very glad that I had the first 3 books together, so I could just keep reading as each book ended. The characters are super well developed and I had fun getting to know them as they continued to develop from book to book. There were plenty of plot twists and turns, such that I never quite was able to guess what was going to happen at the end of each book. I fell in love with some of the characters, and mourned those who didn't make it. The entire magical world is also extremely well developed. I honestly recommend this book to most anyone that enjoys a good paranormal story!Product details

I really loved this boxset - well worth it! The story line is quite different from others, and yes, surprising. I felt that it was well written, with exciting twists and interesting characters.
Great character development. Hard to stop reading. If you took the Evanovitch books and crossed them with vampires and werewolves, you might come up with something like this.
The series starts with a heroine who does not know her powers but as thst slowly chnges the action escalates. Whatever happens with supernatural the power of chocolate... oops spoiler alert.
Jade was half witch and half ? She thought half human but what she found out was amazing. Very different kind of book. Shapeshifters,skinwalkers,dragons,vampires, witches....You name it. Her sister played with black magic becoming filled with blood lust. She wanted to call forth demons which had Made and half the adept world trying to stop her. A little. Romance with a shapeshifter. I hope the next book brings in more romance though. Love this series..gets your imagination working over time.
I love this series! I love being in the character’s head and experiencing all her crazy, chocolate-coated emotions. This character has spunk and drive and ad libs like there’s no tomorrow. Kett is absolutely my most favorite character. I love the spice and interaction between Desmond and Jade and Kett and Jade. I wanted more of the saucy love stuff, but the story wasn’t about that. The story focused on Jade’s quest to stop her sister, but everything along the way was a blast.
Reader Rated for ages 17+ for plenty of sensuality; also contains moderate violence and mild language.
like characters who don't fit the tired old profiles, a main character who has flaws but doesn't sulk or snark her way through pain, someone learns from her mistakes and doesn't run away from her friends and family to battle alone, rare strong powers that have to be trained instead of popping up full-blown, an interesting world that we learn about as the heroine does, actual relationships not insta-lusts, and more besides. The kind of solid readable writing that has you look forward to the next book.
I read the first book, of this series, 4 years ago. I had thought I liked it, so I picked up the Box Set 1. Even though the story line is good, it wasn't something I really "loved". There were scenes that were excellently written, however, there were too many things I didn't care for.
While nasty cuss words were spelled with ***., God and Jesus were frequently used, when expressing anger or frustration. I did not like that. Also, there was too much repetition about cupcakes and frostings and flavors and smells...not too mention chocolate this and chocolate that! Goodness, didn't the author know too many sweets can make you sick, even just reading about them?
Demons are not something I want to read about and I don't order any book that is about them, if I can help it. I won't be reading book 3 of this set.
